Famous with the fact that it has the largest Irish population of any London area, Kilburn is one of the multi-cultural centres of the capital. It’s located 6 kilometres north-west of Charing Cross and has been an important part of London ever since Roman times.

Area of Kilburn Overview

Most of Kilburn is in the boroughs of Brent and Camden. However, a small section is located in the northern part of the City of Westminster. Kilburn borders with Brondsbery, Hampstead, Maida Vale, Cricklewood, and St John’s Wood. The fact that it has the largest Irish population heavily reflects on the area’s look. A lot of pubs and hard working locals can be seen across the streets. However, in the residential part of Kilburn, the streets are fairly quiet. The majority of the houses are terraced and detached. A standard flat rent is about £200 a week with cheaper options near the high road and the noisy areas.

Parks near Kilburn

The parks in the area are fairly small. The main one is called the Kilburn Grange Park. The Paddington Recreation Ground is located just south of Kilburn and is also a great place for walks or jogging. The Regent’s Park is not located in the Kilburn area, but it is not far away and it is also perfect place for relaxation. There you can enjoy both a nice walk or the ZSL London Zoo – the world’s oldest scientific zoo (opened in 1828). Keep in mind that there is also an open air theatre in the park.
